When does the nonprofit receive my donation?

Donations are delivered to nonprofits by the end of the month after your donation. For example, if you donate in March, the nonprofit will receive the funds by the end of April. 

To make things easier, we combine all donations to the same nonprofit into one monthly payment. This helps nonprofits focus on their mission, rather than paperwork.

The donation journey has several steps, each designed to reduce costs for the nonprofits. You can see the tracker in your donation history under each donation made:

1. Donation initiated (example date: July 17, 2024)
   
   When you make a donation, it’s sent to one of our foundation partners and queued for processing, along with all donations made with Benevity over the calendar month.
   
    
2. Processing donation (example date: August 1, 2024)
   
   A donation report is sent from our foundation partners to your company to cover things like payroll donations and matched amounts.
   
    
3. Funds ready to be sent (example date August 20, 2024)
   
   Once we receive all funds from you and your company, the foundation partners bundle all donations and matches made through Benevity and prepare a single payment for each nonprofit.
   
    
4. Donation sent to nonprofit (example date August 25, 2024)
   
   Funds are sent to the nonprofit. Electronic payments are fee-free and arrive within two business days. Checks, if applicable, take longer to process and arrive. 
   Note: Nonprofits in the US and Canada choose whether they receive funds by EFT or check. Nonprofits in other countries receive funds by EFT.
   
    
5. Donation received by nonprofit (only for checks) (example date August 30, 2024)
   
   This shows when a nonprofit receives the check. However, they must still deposit it before receiving the funds. Delivery and processing times may vary depending on the nonprofit's location. Learn more about when nonprofits receive checks.
